Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are a rare breed, and what makes them truly unique is the huge amount of love they bring to a family. Their moustache may get sloppy and their short coat may be coarse, but there’s nothing rough about a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. In fact, that coarse coat comes with a huge hidden benefit (especially for those with allergies) because it barely sheds! This means you can spend less time with the vacuum cleaner and more time taking your Griff for walks, runs, or their favourite activity, swimming.
Wirehaired Pointing Griffons were originally bred to be hunting dogs, which means spending long days outdoors with their owners is right in their DNA. They are perfect for families and kids, but don’t like to be left alone for very long, especially in small spaces where they can’t run around. More than anything, Griffs love being with people and they love to show it. They’re eager to please, and very trainable with a little patience and some gentle positive reinforcement. If you want a breed that is a little hard to find, but easy to clean up after, easy to train and most importantly, easy to love, the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is the breed for you.

Grooming frequency
Brushed Regularly
Your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon will need between 2 and 2.5 cups of kibble a day. Like any dog, you shouldn’t give them too much people food, but the griff tends to be a bit of an oddball, and prefers cottage cheese and cooked eggs. Pay careful attention to your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon’s diet and be sure not to overfeed (no matter what their cute puppy dog eyes may tell you!). They are an athletic breed, and their small frames just aren’t equipped to handle too much extra weight.
