Rat Terrier Training

Puppyhood is the time to get connected with your Rat Terrier and set behaviours that will last a lifetime. Make sure your dog knows that you’re the boss and show them that you’re a strong leader. Getting a handle on basic commands at this stage will be important for their future development. You should also make sure to socialize your puppy so that they don’t get aggressive with dogs or strangers. Because they can be chewers and diggers when they’re bored, it might be a good option to crate train your dog when you’re out of the house or at night.

Rat Terrier Puppy Ears

Rat Terrier puppies are born with their ears standing up, but they drop as they mature. Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
