Portuguese Water Dog Training

Portuguese Water Dog puppies are playful and energetic with a ton of brains! Training your dog will be very rewarding, as long as you can keep their attention. Like all dogs, socializing your puppy with different people and places is important. Knowing how to behave in various social situations will make for a well manned and behaved dog. Porties, especially as puppies, are very high energy! You don't want it to grow into a dog that chases things, barks at random people, or is aggressive at other animals. The biggest training tip when it comes to Portie is simply keep them busy. Lots of exercise and intimate training sessions will keep them from aggravating habits like digging and chewing. Portuguese Water Dogs do best with interactive training games and activities. A bored Portie is a destructive Portie. Do your best to make puppy training sessions fun and it will be beneficial for both you and the Portie.

Portuguese Water Dog Puppy Ears

Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
