Newfoundland Training

A Newfie puppy is a wide-eyed bundle of fur, but it's a pup that’s going to grow up fast. Proper care and training your Newfie puppy is crucial. As soon as you come home, set expectations immediately so you don't end up with a 125 pound pal you can't control. Newfies are smart, happy and willing workers, so you can expect your puppy to enjoy learning. Puppy classes may be a good idea to teach it good manners and socialization. Although they're very sweet, you don't want your Newfie to play strangely with other animals and people. A timid or aggressive Newfie can be a handful. Despite their size, Newfies do well with crate training. Because dogs like to keep their area clean, they will hold their bowels until they're let out. This is a good method to help house and potty train your pup. Patient and positive training is essential so you don’t have a floppy friend that’s out of control.

Newfoundland Puppy Ears

Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
