Although your Irish Wolfhound will get big fast, they don’t mentally age very quickly. Their puppyhood can last longer than a year, which means you are likely to have a 100 pound puppy on your hands. You’ll need to start training your Irish Wolfhound ASAP to make sure they don’t carry bad behaviours into adulthood. Can you imagine how much damage an out-of-control larger-than-life puppy can do? The good news is that they’re not aggressive dogs and will naturally be sensitive to their owner’s mood. Spend some time socializing your puppy with other dogs and people, get them enough exercise, and you shouldn’t have any major issues.
Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
