Havanese are very intelligent and social dogs. It’s important to socialize them in a variety of situations with a number of different people to give them a holistic, well-shaped experience. They are fairly sensitive dogs, so it’s strongly suggested that you treat your Havanese puppy with a firm but gentle hand during training. Reward Havanese with some treats (not too many because, as a small dog, they are prone to obesity!) and even more positive affirmations. Havanese want you to enjoy their company as much as you enjoy theirs. Bring a positive air to your training sessions and your dog with greatly benefit.
Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
