Doberman Pinschers are powerful, intelligent dogs known for their protective instincts. Athletic and trainable, it’s important to be aware when selecting your Doberman puppy from a reputable breeder, and to ensure training and socialization starts early. If this is your first time with the breed, obedience classes or a trainer will be beneficial and bring you the best results. The energetic puppies will need plenty of exercise and play to feel their best and ensure they grow into a well-trained and socialized companion for you and your family.
Ears are a unique feature of the Doberman Pinscher. It’s important to note that your puppy’s ears won’t perk up for at least 12 weeks, and may go up and down during the teething period. Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
