Training the high-energy and sometimes mischievous Boxer puppies should begin almost immediately. From the get-go Boxers need to know that you’re the boss, and respect training works best for this breed. The idea behind it is gaining your dog’s respect by being strict and firm so that it will obey the basic commands. Positive reinforcement is also important to training a Boxer and the dog remains motivated with rewards, like treats and access to toys. To manage your Boxer puppy’s indoor energy levels—i.e. prevent it from chewing or tearing up your furniture or shoes—training should include things like playing fetch and other outdoor activities or running on a leash.
Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
