With its cute, little grumpy face, don’t be fooled by your Border Terrier puppy. They can easily learn basic obedience and are happy to do so. Plus, if you start with puppy school and socialization early, you’re off to a good start for your inquisitive little pup. Use positive reinforcement (like food and praise) to help you teach and reward your puppy with a variety of tasty treats so that they stay interested, and save the best ones for dedicated training sessions. Borders are an independent breed, so don’t be surprised if they can be stubborn in listening; their playfulness and intelligence are worth being around!
Healthy puppies will have clean ears with no signs of discharge, redness, inflammation or pungent odour. If the puppy is aggressively scratching or pawing their ear, tilting their head or excessively flipping their head, it may also be a sign of discomfort. Breeds with floppy ears are more prone to infection or disease.
